Section 03/Manufacture
Manufacture
Building aircraft in Spain began with other people’s drawings and the tooling to make them. CASA at Getafe, engine builders in Barcelona, airframe work in Seville: the industry existed before the designs did.

CASA
The Spanish manufacturer that turned aeronautical design into an industry, building under licence and to its own designs.

Licence building
Much of the industry's early work was building other people's designs, which is how the tooling and the workforce were created.

Materials and jigs
Tube, fabric, plywood and later alloy, each with its own tooling and its own repair practice.
